Plymouth Argyle pulled off one of the best runs of forms seen last season by a British team.

At Christmas, Argyle were rock bottom and Derek Adams' side seemed absolutely destined for relegation.

But the Devon club stuck with their manager, and by the end of the season they were banging on the door of the play-offs.

They were just pipped to the final place by Charlton Athletic, but it was a season that will have given the Pilgrims huge confidence ahead of the new season.

It has been all change this summer with six new arrivals in the form of Freddie Ladapo from Southend United, Conor Grant from Everton, Harry Burgoyne from Wolves, Joe Riley from Shrewsbury Town, Niall Canavan from Rochdale and Calum Dyson from Everton.

Going the other way have been Sonny Bradley, Aaron Taylor Sinclair, Oscar Threlkeld, Gary Miller, Paul Paton and Nathan Blissett.

So whilst there has been plenty of business done at Home Park this summer there is still more to be done.

Here are three names that could push Plymouth over the line and into the play-offs.

Many were surprised to see Peterborough United transfer list their captain at the end of the season and Baldwin could be just the man Argyle need.

With Sonny Bradley leaving the club they will need someone else to lead the backline and Baldwin is someone who is fully capable of taking on that responsibility.

It would be naive of Adams to think that one new centre-back would solve his problems so bringing in Ben Heneghan from Sheffield United could be a clever move.

Heneghan arrived at Brammal Lane from Motherwell with a lot of promise in 2016 but has never kicked on, so a move to Plymouth would be ideal for both parties.

Graham Carey was almost Plymouth's sole provider of goals last season so bringing in Ben Pringle would relieve a lot of pressure on the Home Park favourite.

Pringle has fallen out of favour at Preston North End and may be willing to drop down a division for first-team football.
