If you'd have told Wolves fans a couple of months ago that they'd have new ownership, 12 new players and had broken their transfer record, most of them would have told you that you were lying.

Trapped in the net of Moxey and co, people were growing fed up and numbers at Molineux were dropping.

But fast-forward to now and it seems that there is optimism on the gold side of the Black Country for what seems like that first time in years. They've suffered in the Championship and have failed to mount a successful promotion push for years and this season really could be their year.

New manager Walter Zenga has revitalised the Wolves faithful, instilling a real sense of optimism that seems to have gone straight from the players to the paddocks.

They've lost just one of their opening five fixtures, showing impressive resolve in their draw at Rotherham on the opening day before comfortably dispatching the likes of Birmingham and Reading.

They were also busy on deadline day but are there some players that slipped through the net? Perhaps some they should have moved for?

With that in mind, here's THREE players Wolves should have signed on Deadline Day...

Rickie Lambert

Whilst new signing Jón Daði Böðvarsson has started fantastically, Wolves do seem a little light in attack, should anything happen to their Icelandic forward.

They've got Joe Mason waiting in the wings but the former Cardiff City man has been deployed primarily as a number 10 over the past couple of weeks and new signing Ivan Cavaleiro is more of a winger.

Rickie Lambert signed for Cardiff City right at the last minute last night and he is a fantastic striking option at this level. He's had a forgettable couple of years but get him fit and in-form, and he can do a real job for your side. Wolves will hope injuries and suspensions stay away in the striking department.

Jose Enrique

Spanish left-back Jose Enrique still remains a free-agent and there is nothing to suggest in either the English or Spanish that he has stopped playing or has retired.

With that in mind, it seems that plenty of teams have overlooked a solid, Premier League experienced left-back. Whilst wages might have been a problem for some sides, there is little doubt that if Enrique was struggling for offers, he'd have to reduce his wage demands at some point.

Wolves youngster Dominic Iorfa has been shaky over the past couple of weeks, and this would have settled that problem perfectly.

Reece Brown

Exciting Birmingham City youngster Reece Brown is still struggling for game-time, despite his feud with Gary Rowett reportedly being resolved this summer.

He's a cracking young winger who had trials with Premier League clubs last summer and he seems to have gotten his act together, but still can't get a game.

He hasn't featured for the first-team in the league this season but is more than good enough to play at this level. A loan move to local neighbours Wolves might have been just the ticket. Wolves have heavily invested by the proximity and their good form meant a loan move would have been perfect.
