This weekend the Championship returns after taking a short break for players to fulfil their international duties.

One of the early pace setters in the league are Brighton and Hove Albion who currently sit in 4th place, and could move up to second on Saturday if results go their way.

Their opposition Preston North End will arrive at the AMEX Stadium feeling a little bit better about themselves, after losing just one of their last five matches.

The better run was certainly required as manager Simon Grayson was put under a considerable amount of pressure to turn things around, after making a poor start to the campaign.

They will certainly have to be on top of their game to take anything from this strong Brighton side who are sitting pretty near the top of the table.

FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe highlights THREE players who could be key in this encounter…

Anthony Knockaert

French midfielder Anthony Knockaert joined Brighton in January 2016 and was a revelation last season.

He played a part in 12 goals during the second half of the season and massively helped his side in gaining a play-off place.

His impressive form has also been carried over to the new campaign, and the 24-year-old has already equalled his goal tally and sits as Brighton’s joint top goal scorer alongside Glenn Murray.

Knockaert is a player who is invaluable to whoever he plays for.

He has the desirable ability to make things happen out of nowhere and the Preston side will certainly need to keep an eye of him every second of the game.

Jordan Hugill

With the departure of Joe Garner and the persistent injury problems involving Jermaine Beckford, North End fans were a little wary going into the season as to who would score the goals.

The ever improving Jordan Hugill stepped up and has been a key man up front for Preston especially in recent matches, scoring 3 times in the last 5 matches.

The 24-year-old has been at the club since 2014 but has never been more important to the side.

He will certainly not give the Brighton defenders an easy time and with him being a constant menace in the air and a poacher in front of goal, he could be a threat.

Lewis Dunk

Brighton and Hove Albion had to fight very hard to keep hold of Lewis Dunk in the summer, but the hard work has certainly paid off.

The central defender has been crucial to the Seagulls who hold the joint best defensive record in the Football League, conceding just 7 goals and keeping 7 clean sheets in the process.

His strength and aerial power has played a big part again this campaign and his contribution to the Brighton side cannot be overlooked.
