What a frustrating season it has been for all involved down at Bramall Lane with Sheffield United.
Sitting in ninth position, and slowly but surely seeing their play-off and promotion charge grind to a halt, the Blades are finding themselves pondering life in League One, for what would be a sixth successive season.
New manager Nigel Adkins invested a top heavy squad in the summer when he took over, with quotes of 43 professionals on the books being mentioned over the course of the season.
The manager has made no secret of his desire to trim the squad, and has already acted by allowing numerous players to leave on loan already.
However, there remains a large number of players within the squad who could be deemed surplus to requirements at Bramall Lane, and may well be moved on, following in the footsteps of Bob Harris, who departed for Fleetwood Town.
