Nottingham Forest fans are probably already casting an eye towards next season, given that they currently reside in 11th place in the Sky Bet Championship, and more crucially are 11 points away from the top six.
Although the players continue to maintain that they are focused on finishing as high as possible this season, deep down they will be resigned to the prospect of another season in the second tier.
The Reds expect to emerge from their transfer embargo during the summer months, and that prospect alone is enough to suggest that Forest can push towards the play-off places next season.
Despite a overhanging embargo during the 2015/16 campaign, boss Dougie Freedman has recruited fairly well and those of a Forest persuasion will hope he can assemble a squad, which boasts a mix of youth and experience over the summer.
With very little to play for between now and the end of the season Forest will probably not decide to recruit anyone during the emergency loan window but some of the lesser members of the squad may seek to leave.
