With Cardiff City sitting in seventh in the league and only four points off the play-off places, they are potentially promotion dark horses.

Since dropping back down to the Championship, they have been serial underperformers to the point that they are no longer mentioned in the promotion picture.

This season, however, they've come out the shadows to be one of the most unlikely of play-off contenders, with no recognisable striker and the departure of Joe Mason and Kenwyne Jones, most Cardiff fans would've expected them to struggle.

Instead, Russell Slade has made the most of his squad and got them performing well which has helped the Welsh side close the gap on the play-off places.

Despite the impressive performances of late, Russell Slade may still look to use the emergency loan market to loan out some of their younger players and senior players on the fringe of the matchday squad.

This article will look at THREE players that should leave the Bluebirds in the emergency loan window........

Kadeem Harris

One of the most promising young players at Cardiff and a likely player to leave the Welsh outfit on loan is Kadeem Harris.

Since joining the club in 2012 from Wycombe Wanderers, the midfielder has impressed with his energy and willingness to surge forward providing an attacking threat.

The willingness to run and close down the opposition has impressed but his quality on the ball has sometimes been lacking, which is why he's not been involved more in this Cardiff side.

With Cardiff having loaned him out to Brentford and Barnsley already, it will be no surprise if the midfielder leaves the club again on a temporary basis until the end of the season as he continues to develop and refine his game with another loan to League One, likely to be on the cards.

Ben Wilson

Another promising young player that Cardiff picked up from the lower leagues, and another player likely to leave on loan due to the lack of playing time available is Ben Wilson.

The young goalkeeper has been on a journey as he started at Sunderland but having not got an opportunity, he originally left on loan to a number of lower league clubs before signing permanently for Cambridge United.

Without making an appearance, he joined Accrington Stanley and eventually worked his way up from non-league to the Championship, as he signed for the Bluebirds in 2014 but re-joined Accrington Stanley on loan.

With David Marshall already a permanent fixture in the Cardiff side and an instrumental aspect of their success, Cardiff may look to loan Wilson out again to keep him match sharp.

Idriss Saadi

The final player isn't a young player but one that may need to go out on loan is the talented French striker Idriss Saadi.

With 18 goals in 39 appearances for Clermont, Saadi was an exciting prospect and a striker on many clubs radars but Cardiff managed to sign him late in the summer transfer window.

Since then, he has remained an unknown entity to many Cardiff fans as he arrived at the club injured and once he recovered from his injury, he tragically picked up another injury only 13 minutes into his debut.

Purely because of his persistent injuries, Russell Slade may look to loan him out for a short while to a less competitive and intensive league, where he can regain his fitness and at the same time, it would offer Saadi some time to rehabilitate and properly recover from his injury.

If Slade was to do this then when he returned for the Bluebirds for what could be a very interesting run in and he could provide that extra quality and goal-scoring threat, that could be the difference between a top ten finish and a play-off spot.
