Since opting to hand over the reins at St Andrew's to John Eustace, Birmingham City have managed to bolster their squad by making a number of signings this summer.

Dion Sanderson, Przemyslaw Placheta, Krystian Bielik and Auston Trusty have joined the Blues on loan deals.

John Ruddy meanwhile has signed a permanent deal at St Andrew's following his departure from Norwich City.

With the window set to close next month, it will be interesting to see whether Birmingham are able to secure the services of some fresh faces in the coming weeks.

Here, we have decided to take a look at three players who should be on Birmingham's transfer radar as the September 1st deadline looms...

Jason Knight

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Birmingham are interested in signing Jason Knight from Derby County.

It is understood that Eustace is a big fan of the midfielder and is keen on swooping for him.

If this speculation turns out to be correct, Birmingham must consider stepping up their pursuit as Knight has shown some real signs of promise in the Championship during his career to date.

The Republic of Ireland international provided a respectable total of five direct goal contributions at this level in the previous campaign.

Capable of playing in a number of different positions, Knight would add some versatility to Birmingham's squad if he makes the move to St Andrew's.

Tahith Chong

Signed by Birmingham on loan from Manchester United last season, Chong managed to show glimpses of his talent in the Championship.

However, the winger only featured on 20 occasions at this level as he missed a chunk of action due to injury.

Given that United are currently able to call upon the services of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga, Chong may find it extremely difficult to force his way into their starting eleven in the upcoming campaign.

If the Red Devils are willing to loan the 22-year-old out again in the closing stages of the window, Birmingham should look into the possibility of signing him.

As well as being directly involved in three goals in the previous term, Chong made 1.3 key passes per match and completed 1.1 successful dribbles per fixture in a Birmingham shirt (as per WhoScored) as he illustrated that he is capable of making an impact in the second-tier.

Elliot Anderson

Another player who should be on Birmingham's radar during the closing weeks of the window is Elliot Anderson who excelled during a loan spell at Bristol Rovers last season.

The winger helped the Gas secure promotion to League One by scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 21 appearances.

Linked with a plethora of clubs this summer, Anderson has recently attracted interest from Burnley who are keen on securing a temporary deal for him.

Providing that Newcastle United are willing to sanction another temporary exit for Anderson, Birmingham ought to consider entering the race for his signature as he unquestionably possesses the talent that is needed to play at Championship level.
