Stoke City will be looking to kick-start their 2019/20 campaign tomorrow when they head to Griffin Park to face Brentford in the Championship.

The Potters have yet to win in the second-tier this year and are currently bottom of the standings.

Despite illustrating some signs of promise last week against Bristol City, Stoke eventually suffered defeat in-front of their supporters after Joe Allen was sent-off in the first-half of the clash for a reckless challenge on Josh Brownhill.

With the Wales international set to miss the club's next three fixtures after the Potters decided not to challenge his ban (via the Stoke Sentinel), it will be intriguing to see who manager Nathan Jones brings in to fill the void left by the 29-year-old.

Keeping this in mind, here are three players who we think could be in contention to replace Allen at Brentford on Saturday...

Peter Etebo

One of Stoke's only shining lights in what was an underwhelming 2018/19 campaign, Peter Etebo established himself as a key player for the club by making 37 appearances in all competitions.

Having been brought on as a substitute during last week's clash with the Robins, the midfielder may make his return to the Potters' starting eleven tomorrow.

With Brentford almost certain to dominate possession, Etebo's excellent defensive skills could come in handy for Jones' side as he will able to provide sufficient cover for their three central-defenders.

Mark Duffy

Signed on a season-long loan from Sheffield United last month, Mark Duffy has yet to make a lasting impact for Stoke.

However, with Allen set to miss out on Saturday, the 33-year-old could be in contention to start against Brentford.

Although he is predominately a winger, Duffy can also operate in a central role and thus Jones may not have to alter his formation in order to fit the loanee in his side.

Having provided 13 goal contributions in the Championship last season, the former Scunthorpe United man could add some much-needed creativity to Stoke's midfield.

Tyrese Campbell

Although Campbell is an out and out forward, he may start for Stoke if Jones decides to alter his formation at the weekend.

Having recently bagged a brace for the Potters' Under-23 side against Aston Villa, the teenager will be brimming with confidence and thus it could be worth taking a risk on him.

By partnering Campbell with Lee Gregory, Stoke may be able to cause Brentford some issues on the counter-attack.
