Derby County will be looking to kick-start their 2019/20 campaign with a positive result against Leeds United tomorrow at Elland Road.

Since securing victory in their opening day clash with Huddersfield Town, the Rams have only managed to pick up four points from a possible eighteen on offer.

Currently 19th in the Championship standings, Derby will need to step up their performance levels if they are to challenge for a top-six finish.

Rams manager Phillip Cocu will be without Tom Lawrence for tomorrow's clash (via the Yorkshire Evening Post) after the winger picked up his fifth booking of the season during last Friday's clash with Cardiff City.

Considering just how important the Wales international is for Derby, it will be intriguing to see how they fare in his absence.

Here, we take a look at three players who could replace Lawrence in the Rams' starting eleven on Saturday.

Florian Jozefzoon

Although it is fair to say that Florian Jozefzoon has yet to reach the heights that were expected of him when he joined Derby from Brentford in 2018, he may be in line to start against Leeds tomorrow.

Whilst predominately a right-winger, the Dutchman has operated on the left on numerous occasions during his career.

Therefore, if Cocu is looking to stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation that he used during last week's 1-1 draw against Cardiff, Jozefzoon could turn out to be a pivotal player for the Derby.

Jason Knight

A product of Derby's youth academy, Jason Knight has made a promising start to the 2019/20 campaign under the guidance of Cocu.

With five Championship appearances to his name already this year, the midfielder could add to his tally against Leeds.

However, in order to bring the 18-year-old into his side, Cocu may have to sacrifice width at Elland Road as Knight is more suited to a central role.

Kieran Dowell

Brought in on loan from Everton in the summer, Kieran Dowell has yet to replicate the performance levels which saw him thrive at Sheffield United last season.

Despite being dropped by Cocu following a disastrous display against Brentford last month, the 21-year-old may be drafted in as a replacement for Lawrence tomorrow.

Unquestionably talented, Dowell will be determined to prove his worth to his boss as well as the club's fans and thus may end up delivering an inspired display in the heart of midfield for the Rams.
