With news breaking today surrounding Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart being linked to Reading, tongues are now wagging in Berkshire about just who else Jaap Stam might try and bring into the club.

Reading endured a poor season last time out, and the appointment of former Dutch international Stam has split opinion between fans, with some confident he can inject new life into the club, while others are more sceptical about his lack of experience.

The link with van der Vaart though shows  the lure Stam potentially has in terms of player pulling power, and should he sign, it would send shockwaves through the league.

The left footed midfielder can be world class on his day, as he showed during his time in England with Tottenham, and the Championship would surely be a stroll for such a player.

With the playmaker being linked today, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE players who could follow Rafael van der Vaart to Reading...

Andreas Pereira

An obvious link to make between Stam and potential new signings is that with Man United.

Stam will no doubt be still in the loop about the inner workings of Old Trafford, and young midfielder Pereira is definitely a player who might benefit from a move away from Manchester.

The skillful midfielder could fit right in at Reading and what better player to learn under as an attacking midfielder than Rafael van der Vaart.

Pereira will be hoping to break into the Man United team this season, but with Jose Mourinho splashing the cash, it looks unlikely. A move to Reading under Stam could be perfect.

Django Warmerdam

The link between Reading now and Ajax is understandable, following Stams last job at the Amsterdam club last term.

Warmerdam is a young exciting midfielder, also capable of operating in defence, who has been called up the Dutch under-21 team after some impressive showings for Jong Ajax over the course of last season.

Stam might well want to dip into the Dutch market and use his links wisely as he looks to build his squad at Reading, and might well see someone with Warmerdam's potential as the ideal signing.

Alex Pritchard

The exciting midfielder has been told he has no future at Spurs by boss Mauricio Pochettino, and a move to Reading would not be too much of a shock.

Pritchard has all the ability to be a top class midfielder, it just hasn't panned out for him as yet in relation to breaking into the Spurs squad on a regular basis.

He is proven though at Championship level, as he showed at Brentford, and he could be an excellent signing for the Royals.

Pritchard would excel learning off van der Vaart too, meaning it might well be a move which benefits numerous parties.
