The January transfer window is a little over five weeks away, with clubs vying for promotion able to recruit and shuffle their hands ahead of the second half of the season.

The festive period will reveal more, but at present there's a handful of clubs in with a serious shout of automatic promotion to the Premier League, with West Brom amongst them.

Of the relegated sides, they've perhaps acquitted themselves best, settling into a rhythm that has brought a lot of goals, but also plenty conceded too.

Darren Moore will be painfully aware of his side's deficiency at the back, but he might also want to freshen up the forward line in readiness for the final straight, those four months from New Year's Day until the end of the season.

Here's THREE players we think West Brom could realistically sign and perhaps should if they're serious about promotion...

One area they've looked a little light this season is at right back. Rangers' James Tavernier could be the man to fill the role.

His side are challenging for the Scottish Premier League title, but the Baggies have been linked with him before and if they're looking likely to be promoted, surely he'd be tempted to make the switch.

One player who would be a big signing is Bradley Dack. He'd cost a fair whack, but if Premier League football is looming it would be a risk worth taking.

Fending of bigger clubs might be a challenge, but West Brom are a big side themselves and if they're in the top two or three in January, Dack might see a route to the top flight, but in a pivotal role rather than on the bench somewhere like Spurs.

He'd be a massive capture too, he's a class act with goals and creativity.

If they're looking for a player to back up Gayle and Rodriguez, one with a natural instinct for goals, then John Marquis would be worth a punt.

He's been superb for Doncaster this season and is prime for a Championship move in the summer.

The Baggies could jump the queue and pay a nominal fee to grab him early.
