Kenny Jackett appears to be writing his name into Pompey folklore by becoming the manager who leads them back into the Championship.

They will feel their rightful place is dropping in and out of the top flight, but a couple of seasons in the wilderness has given them a rude awakening. They're now poised for glory, setting the standard for others to emulate in League One.

There's much to be excited about at Fratton Park, not least the development of some technically gifted players. Ronan Curtis has started life in blue with a bang and Jamal Lowe gets better every time he kicks a ball.

Oliver Hawkins might appear to be a target man with little finesse, but his input has been critical this season and he's kept Brett Pitman on the bench. At the back, Matt Clarke continues to live up to his billing of best defender outside the top two divisions.

There are players at Pompey who they'll be hoping come to the fore in the coming weeks and months, finding form and fitness ahead of a gruelling winter. FLW identifies THREE such players...

Walkes has immaculate pedigree, but as yet has not stood out in the side. At this level, he really should be shining bright and he'll be hoping for more chances in the coming weeks.

It is hard to break into a successful side and although Walkes has seven starts and one outing from the bench, he needs more regular football to truly stake his claim.

There's been a bit of a misunderstanding between Aston Villa and Portsmouth over the situation with Andre Green, but as he nears fitness he should enter Fratton Park with a bang.

He was touted as a possible starter for Villa at the top of the Championship, so when he's fully fit and raring to go he should be a big success in League One.

The big question is how much he wants it.

Pitman has 11 league appearances to his name, but very few starts.

It seems inconceivable that last year's leading scorer wouldn't be a key figure this time around, but Jackett has been utterly ruthless in his treatment of the striker.

He's still scored three goals, but his class was evident last season and the Fratton Park faithful will be desperate to see him begin to fire properly once again.
