Whilst it was a hectic day for many of the 72 clubs, it was a very calm and successful deadline day for Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal, bringing in winger Adam Reach.

The move capped off what has been a dazzling transfer window for the Owls, which culminated in 8 new signings, as the Yorkshire club look to romp to promotion, after coming agonisingly close to the ultimate prize last term.

However, things haven't begun in the fashion Carlos Carvalhal would have wanted, as the Owls have only picked up 1 win, drawing twice and losing twice too.

A minority of the Hillsborough faithful will be arguing that the Owls boss should have done more in the window, in order to really take Wednesday to the top this term.

Here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE players Wednesday should have looked to sign on a hectic transfer deadline day...

Marc Pugh

Having made 233 appearances for AFC Bournemouth, it seems as if Pugh’s time is over at the South Coast club, enduring 6 magnificent years with the Cherries.

In addition to this, the phenomenal loan signing of Jack Wilshere from Arsenal is bound to vanish any chances of the 29 year old's return to the starting lineup.

Pugh has what it takes to get out of the division, having won the league in the 2014/15 campaign with Eddie Howe's men, and is the perfect attacking midfielder that Owls fans have been crying out for in recent times.

Carlos Carvalhal may have missed out on a tremendous coup here.

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes is a proven goalscorer in the second tier, and many high profile Championship clubs will have been looking to pursue the prolific striker's signature all summer.

The Middlesbrough striker has failed to make an appearances in both the league and cup thus far this term.

Wednesday should have really delved into the chequebook here, as they have heavily missed out.

Diego Poyet

The midfielder never really seemed to cut it at West Ham, and after enduring three loan spells away from the Boleyn Ground since joining from Charlton in 2014.

His contract was terminated in the early stages of deadline day, which alerted many Championship clubs, however nobody snapped up the Spanish born 21-year old, who remains as a free agent.

The midfielder has had loan spells at MK Dons, Huddersfield, and Charlton, and would have been a perfect acquisition for Wednesday, and a key asset in midfield.

So...What do you think Wednesday fans? Would you agree with these three signings? Would you have liked to see Carvalhal bring in any more players? Leave your suggestions and thoughts in the comments below!
