Sheffield Wednesday had a superb campaign last year, having finished in the top six and reaching the play-off final only to lose out to Hull City.

Manager Carlos Carvahal and everybody associated with the club will be hoping and praying that they can go one better this time around, and mount a serious challenge for the automatic promotion spots.

With the backing of chairman Dejphon Chansiri, Sheffield Wednesday now have the financial muscle to compete with anyone in the Championship.

With this financial backing, the Owls could do some serious damage in the summer transfer window, and there is a hell of a lot of talent out there that would undoubtedly enhance their squad ahead of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season.

This article takes a look at THREE players who they should definitely be taking a look at in this transfer window.....

Ross McCormack

First up is hotshot Ross McCormack, there has been many a rumour linking this man with a move to Hillsborough and it appears that Sheffield Wednesday are very interested in making that reality.

It is being reported that Wednesday would face competition from numerous Championship clubs and that the asking price for the former Cardiff, Motherwell and Leeds man will be around £15 million.

McCormack is a proven goalscorer at Championship level, he has broken the 20 goal barrier three times during his career with his most prolific campaign coming in the 2013-2014 season at Leeds, where he scored 29 goals in 47 games.

With the creativity of Fernando Forestieri behind McCormack he would surely have enough chances to break that 20 goal barrier, for the 4th time in his career.

Callum McManaman

Next on the list of must buys for Sheffield Wednesday's assault on the automatic promotion spots is exciting winger Callum McManaman.

The former England under-20 international McManaman's career has stalled somewhat after his move to West Brom where he has only managed 18 league appearances, although there is no doubting the obvious talent, which demonstrated in his man of the match performance for Wigan in the FA Cup final leading to a 1-0 win over Manchester City.

During his time with Wigan he made 105 appearances scoring 17 goals. 20 of those appearances for Wigan came in the Premier League.

He would add excellent dribbling skills, creativity, pace and width to a Sheffield Wednesday team looking for a promotion push.

Bradley Dack

Finally the last on the list is exciting League One midfielder Bradley Dack.

Dack plays his football for Gillingham where he has made 146 appearances scoring 32 goals, leading to him earning the reputation of a regular goal scoring midfielder.

In the past two seasons he has reached double figures in goalscoring terms, scoring 10 in the 2014-2015 and bettering that last season with a tally of 15.

Dack is said to be keen to step up in leagues and prove his worth in the Championship, and has been attracting the attention of numerous Championship clubs.

At the age of 22, Dack's best footballing years are well ahead of him and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in league one, he would add work rate, passing ability, and a keen eye for goal to the midfield of Sheffield Wednesday.
