Following relegation from the Premier League, last year was the season that Queens Park Rangers were meant to bounce straight back to the top-flight.

However, it was not to turn out like that, as they disappointingly finished in a mediocre 12th place, yet this was hardly helped by the sale of their talisman Charlie Austin halfway through the season to Southampton.

This also was not helped, however, with the signings of Jamie Mackie and Peterborough United striker Conor Washington not pulling their weight to the level that manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would have liked.

The switch around in managerial duties did not help either, with Chris Ramsey departing in November, before Neil Warnock took caretaker charge for a month, which led to Hasselbaink joining from high-flying Burton Albion.

Off the back of that campaign, the QPR fans will demand a higher finish than last season, and a push for the play-offs certainly is not off the books.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer George Harbey identifies THREE players that Hasselbaink should look to bring in on loan before their clash with Leeds United next weekend...

Jonathan Leko

It was a very lively breakthrough for Leko last campaign, making three starts which saw the 17-year-old striker raise a few smiles in an otherwise dull season at The Hawthorns last term.

His style of play, reminiscent to Loïc Rémy, who made a thrilling impact at Loftus Road in 2013/14, would be a key asset to Hasselbaink's men, with the adequate service of Tjaronn Chery behind him.

The 6 foot pacey forward made five appearances for the Baggies last year, and showed signs of promise, and there is no reason why the Congo-born man could not be a spearhead in QPR's romp to promotion.

Duncan Watmore

Having played a full season for Altrincham in 2012/13, Watmore has started only a handful of games for Sunderland and Hibernian (on loan) in the last three campaigns.

The forward, who can operate as a winger, scored three times in 23 appearances for the Black Cats last term, and a reporter from the North East stated that Watmore should have gone to the Euro's at the expense of Marcus Rashford.

With new manager David Moyes sure to bring in striker reinforcements, Watmore will definitely benefit from 30-odd games in the Championship, and more importantly, be influential for the R's on the wing, having already missed out on Matthew Leckie and the likely departure of Junior Hoilett.

Reece Oxford

Reece Oxford

The schoolboy who silenced Mesut Ozil, central defender Oxford made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in the first game of the season last term, yet excelled in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role.

The 16-year-old became West Ham’s youngest ever player in the process, but Oxford has made just two league appearances since, both of which came in August.

Manager Slaven Bilic spoke of a need to 'control', 'monitor' and 'manage' Oxford in comments merely drowned out by the noise of the hype machine.

The Hammers refused to allow Oxford to join the England Under-17's set-up for the World Cup earlier this year for fear of burnout, but a temporary move to the Championship should provide a wealth of experience.

The versatile young man would be a huge asset to Hasselbaink's men, and would add a lot of calmness and stability at Loftus Road, something that has lacked in previous times.

QPR fans... would these three players be good acquisitions? Has Hasselbaink done enough in the transfer window thus far to get QPR back up to the top-flight? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
