Queens Park Rangers have suffered an indifferent run of form in the Championship so far this season, where at times they have looked like relegation candidates.
Other times, however, the R’s have looked like a solid side, which is the problem.
Consistency makes or breaks seasons at this level and if QPR fail to find any, they could be staring down the barrel of relegation.
Last time out, QPR managed a draw against Frank Lampard’s Derby County side, which isn’t too shoddy a result.
Ultimately thought, the team that Steve McClaren has to work with, in fairness, is fairly poor.
The ex-England boss inherited an ageing squad and you have to think that the board are possibly to blame for letting some players leave.
Obviously, McClaren will understand that some players have to be let go to make ends meet, but QPR may live in regret at some of the players they have let through the exit door.
Here at FLW, we look at THREE players Rangers let go too early…
Jack Robinson has had a strange career, starting at Liverpool and then enjoying stints at a number of football league clubs. He looked like he was settling down at QPR, but left on a free.
Now, he is a regular at Nottingham Forest and playing the best football of his career, meaning some QPR fans will question the decision why his contract was allowed to run down, by which time it became clear he wanted to go.
Matt Phillips made his name at Loftus Road in all honesty, as he started to strut his stuff by winning matches on his own with his skills and eye for a goal.
He is now at West Brom and playing in the right wing back position, he is excelling. QPR will certainly be annoyed that he was allowed to leave via the exit door with ease.
Sebastian Polter is a debatable case because he never really cut it for QPR and isn’t really scoring as many goals as he could over in Germany with Union Berlin.
Despite this, the potential is obvious and QPR fans may feel that with time, he could’ve come good for them as they don't have great depth up front at all.
