Southampton are a club who are renowned for having a brilliant youth setup at the club, and have brought through many top talents.

The likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and, of course, Real Madrid and Wales superstar Gareth Bale have all come up through the ranks at St Mary's and, with inflated transfer fees this year, it is becoming harder and harder for teams with smaller budgets to compete, meaning they may have to be shrewd in the loan market.

While Preston North End do have money to spend, they may also look to supplement their squad with some top quality loan additions from the Premier League.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Chris Strawson identifies THREE players that Preston manager Simon Grayson could potentially pluck from Southampton...

Harrison Reed

One player who could potentially be available for a loan move this season is highly-rated 21-year-old Harrison Reed.

Reed has rose through the youth setup at St Mary's and now finds himself on the fringes of the first team - so far he has appeared 21 times for the first team, with 14 of them coming in the Premier League.

Reed is rated very highly by all the coaching staff at St Mary's, and is seen as potentially someone who could become a key player for the club in years to come.

To aid his development, Southampton may be tempted to loan Reed to a Championship club in the forthcoming season to enable him to get more first team football under his belt.

He is a very confident and energetic midfielder who is accomplished on the ball, and would fit in perfectly to Simon Grayson's midfield.

His potential has been recognised by the England national team, and he has been capped for both the Under 19 and Under 20 squads.

Lloyd Isgrove

23-year-old winger Lloyd Isgrove is another who could potentially be available for a loan move this transfer window.

Isgrove has only managed six appearances for the Southampton first team, and has been shipped out on various loan spells during the past few years with the likes of Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently Barnsley.

Isgrove spent the majority of last season at League One Barnsley where he had a terrific campaign - he made 35 appearances, scoring one goal, which came in the League One play off final when Barnsley secured promotion to the Championship with a 3-1 victory over Millwall.

Isgrove is an electric winger who is very good with the ball at his feet; he is direct in his approach and strikes fear into defenders with his pace and trickery.

He has been capped once for the Wales senior team, when he appeared as a second half substitute in a 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland.

Jack Stephens

Jack Stephens is a very highly rated 22-year-old centre back, who again could potentially be available for a loan move this summer.

He has only made one appearance for the Southampton first team, but has made 79 senior appearances, with the majority coming in various loan spells away from St Mary's.

He has enjoyed two separate loan spells with Swindon Town, where he made a combined total of 51 appearances for the club, scoring just the once, but impressed fans with his solid defensive displays.

He is a commanding centre back who breeds confidence through the rest of the team with his calmness and composure in the back line. He's also very accomplished with the ball at his feet, and is very comfortable distributing the ball from the back. His other loan spells have come at Middlesbrough and Coventry City.

His potential has been recognised at international level, and has been capped for the England Under 18, 19, 20 and 21 teams.
