The magic of the FA Cup definitely shone down on Plymouth Argyle this year – playing Premier League side Liverpool home and away.
They impressed many neutrals with their defensive efforts at Anfield, and when they took them back to Home Park, a 17,000 strong crowd watched them come so close to causing one of the biggest shocks of the round.
The cup run, which saw Argyle play Mansfield and Newport in the first two rounds, with the replay against the latter also being shown on TV, will have brought in the Pilgrims some much needed cash, which could make the world of difference in their promotion quest.
Many fans will tell you that none of this will go into the team; Argyle’s signing of Nate Blissett from local rivals Torquay earlier this month was the first time they paid for a player since 2012.
