The magic of the FA Cup definitely shone down on Plymouth Argyle this year - playing Premier League side Liverpool home and away.

They impressed many neutrals with their defensive efforts at Anfield, and when they took them back to Home Park, a 17,000 strong crowd watched them come so close to causing one of the biggest shocks of the round.

The cup run, which saw Argyle play Mansfield and Newport in the first two rounds, with the replay against the latter also being shown on TV, will have brought in the Pilgrims some much needed cash, which could make the world of difference in their promotion quest.

Many fans will tell you that none of this will go into the team; Argyle's signing of Nate Blissett from local rivals Torquay earlier this month was the first time they paid for a player since 2012.

However, should James Brent decide to put the money into the team, here are THREE players that he should consider signing...

Rhys Healey (Cardiff)

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, a former manager at Argyle and loved by almost all of their fans, said on Wednesday's night BT Sport coverage of the Plymouth vs Liverpool replay that he'd be lending the Pilgrims a striker to help them with their injury woes.

And they have been terrible of the last 12 months. It cost them promotion last season, and with Ryan Brunt and Jimmy Spencer out, they had to bring on 20-year old Louis Rooney and centre-back Nauris Bulvitis to play up front when chasing a goal late in the game on Wednesday.

Paul Arnold Garita come in on loan from Bristol City on deadline day in the summer, and has looked impressive at times but has only scored two league goals. David Goodwillie's future is in the balance after a court judgement, leaving them desperately needing a striker that can bang in the goals.

It is thought that man could be Rhys Healey. The 22-year old spent the first half of the season on loan at Newport County, where he appeared in three of the four matches between the two sides this season. He has six goals from his 17 games so far this season in League Two, and Derek Adams is hoping that Healey can make the number nine position his own.

Christian Doidge (Forest Green)

Many people won't know who this player is, but is it perhaps someone that Derek Adams should be looking at?

Doidge is a 24-year old striker currently playing for Forest Green in the National League, where they sit in second place. He's tall and powerful, and likes to use that to his advantage, exactly the type of player that the Pilgrims need. He has League Two experience as well, with 46 appearances for Dagenham & Redbridge over the 2014-15 and 15-16 campaigns, scoring eight times in the latter.

As mentioned above, Argyle need a striker, and Doidge knows how to score goals at this level. He could be a useful commodity for the club in their quest to win promotion this season.

Craig Curran (Ross County)

Derek Adams's Ross County links are well known. He played for the club, and started his managerial career there. He's signed a number of their players already over his 18 months in the helm at Home Park, suggesting that he has a favourable stance with the management at the Scottish club.

Curran has been at Victoria Park since January 2015, when he was signed as a free agent. He's scored 16 goals in his 61 games for Ross County, including seven in 19 last season. The 27-year old has found it harder to find the back of the net this season, but has had to work with less minutes; he's regularly come off the bench or been subbed off, only playing 90 minutes once. That was in the 2-0 defeat to Celtic back in December.

Curran has plenty of experience throughout the Football League, too. He's made over 100 appearances for Tranmere Rovers, as well as spells at Carlisle United, Rochdale and Morecambe.
