With the news around Nottingham Forest and their impending takeover, all eyes will be cast on the club once more as we head into the January transfer window.

Funds are likely to be made available to either current boss Montanier, or a new manager should the owners wish to part ways with the Frenchman.

Forest are a club with a rich history and remain an attractive proposition in the Championship for footballers looking for a new venture. The two time European Cup winners have struggled this term so far, with the sale of Oliver Burke at the end of the summer transfer window a real kick in the teeth for some supporters.

However, it is easy to dwell on the bad things at the club all too easily, and if the new owners come in, fans can have some excitement about what players might be next through the door.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at THREE players who the new Forest owners could look to sign in January...

Marcus Maddison

Forest could well do with adding some more goals to their team and Peterborough man Marcus Maddison could be the ideal signing.

Maddison has been one of the standout performers in League One this term, with his goals and assists being a real shining light for the Posh as they look to challenge for League One promotion.

Forest would need to act quickly and no doubt pay a decent figure for him, but he is certainly an option for Forest if they are looking to improve their squad.

Daryl Murphy

He might have only moved to Newcastle in the summer, but the Irishman isn't getting a look in for the Toon so far, and might well fancy a move away in January.

Forest need firepower, and an experienced strike ace like Murphy could be ideal for them.

Murphy was excellent for Ipswich over the course of a number of seasons, and knows where the back of the net is. He could be a real steal if they could manage to prize him away in the transfer window.

Tyias Browning

The Everton man has not really been in favour under Ronald Koeman this term, and a move away in January could well be on the cards.

Forest are desperate for a defender, and Browning fits the mould perfectly should they try and sign him up.

Browning offers versatility and Premier League experience, and at 22 is still young enough to feel he has a point to prove.
