Despite a somewhat disappointing start to the season, the squad depth Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier has at his disposal is rather impressive.

Although many of the players are underachieving, shown by the Reds' league position, the quality in their side means that competition for places week in week out must be high at the City Ground.

Nonetheless, Reds boss Philippe Montanier still has a few players who he could certainly shift to free up some squad spaces.

Whether it be through injury, lack of quality or game time, Forest certainly have players that they really should have sold by now.

Here are THREE players that Nottingham Forest should have sold by now......

Danny Fox

The former Southampton defender has been the subject of much criticism in recent seasons at the City Ground which could be seen as harsh or deserved, however he is a solid Championship defender.

Fox has improved his performances since the end of the last season and is currently winning the battle against Armand Traore for the left back slot.

However, with Dani Pinillos set to return in the forthcoming weeks Fox could be pushed out of the side.

With Traore only signed this summer, it could mean an exit on the cards for the player who is in his third season at the East Midlands club.

Jack Hobbs

Like Fox, it could be seen as harsh to get rid of a player who undoubtedly has plenty of quality at Championship level.

However, with Montanier preferring defenders Damien Perquis, Michael Mancienne, Thomas Lam and Matt Mills, Hobbs is not getting any opportunities this season.

The former Hull City centre back was close to a move to both Leeds United and Sheffield United in the summer, and both him and the club would have been disappointed that they couldn't get the deal over the line.

Once a key figure for the Reds, Hobbs is a player who Forest should either play more or sell. The latter may be the best option.

Matty Fryatt

Not in the squad photo but still assigned the number seven shirt at the start of the season, Fryatt's whereabouts and injury situation remains unknown to the fans.

With continuing problems with his Achilles, it would be best for both parties to release the former Leicester City and Hull City striker.

His luck with injuries since he joined the club in 2014 has been hugely disappointing and although they wouldn't be able to sell him, Forest should have looked to release Fryatt to free up a space in their squad and look for a replacement in the summer.
