Despite playing some of the best attacking football in the division, Philippe Montanier's Nottingham Forest side have found the opening stage of the Championship campaign tricky.

Granted, losing talisman Oliver Burke to Bundesliga team RB Leipzig was obviously going to be a huge problem for the Reds, however after receiving a fee of £13million for the young Scotsman, Forest should have really strengthened their squad better, even though they only had a couple of days to do so.

Conceding 19 goals after 9 games doesn't really make up for good reading, however with 17 goals being scored, Montanier's men lie 15th in the Championship table, after winning three times, drawing twice, and losing four times.

On Tuesday night they face a Fulham side that definitely possess the quality to be a real threat come the end of the season, however find themselves short on confidence after being thrashed 4-0 by Bristol City last Saturday.

It'll be yet another tough test for the Reds, and in order to push up the Championship ladder, Forest need to let go of some players in the January transfer window, and bolster their squad with real quality.

That being said, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE players under Forest's ranks, that Philippe Montanier needs to let go of in the January transfer window...

Matty Fryatt

A recurring Achilles problem has stopped any chances of Fryatt breaking into the starting line-up.

With the additions of Nicklas Bendtner, Nicolao Dumitru and Apostolos Vellios in the summer however, and with the return of the prolific Britt Assombalonga drawing ever closer, Fryatt's chances of getting a place in the first team will be even more limited.

He arrived at the City Ground in good stead, joining from Hull City on a three-year deal, and you'd imagine that he is on high wages.

However, netting just 6 times in 25 appearances in the 2014/15 campaign, the 30-year old has failed to make an appearance for the Reds in two seasons now.

Matt Mills

Despite making 47 appearances for the East Midlands club, Matt Mills cannot seem to find his feet at the City Ground, as numerous Forest fans can't seem to see him fit in Montanier's style of play.

The introduction of new signings Damien Perquis and Thomas Lam has been influential for the Reds, joining in the summer from Toronto FC and PEC Zwolle respectively.

The Reds need to play a consistent back line in order to shore up their defence, and further cement their promotion push, therefore letting Mills go could be the best resolution.

Jack Hobbs

Plagued with several injuries, Hobbs has fell extremely down the pecking order at the City Ground.

The 28- year-old has made 39 appearances for Montanier's men, since signing from Hull City in 2014, however for the same reason as Matt Mills, Hobbs may need to move on in January to salvage his career AND Forest's season.

So...What do you think Forest fans? Do you agree with these three suggestions? Who else would you like to see leave the City Ground? Leave your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!
