A recurring Achilles problem has stopped any chances of Fryatt breaking into the starting line-up.

With the additions of Nicklas Bendtner, Nicolao Dumitru and Apostolos Vellios in the summer however, and with the return of the prolific Britt Assombalonga drawing ever closer, Fryatt’s chances of getting a place in the first team will be even more limited.

He arrived at the City Ground in good stead, joining from Hull City on a three-year deal, and you’d imagine that he is on high wages.

However, netting just 6 times in 25 appearances in the 2014/15 campaign, the 30-year old has failed to make an appearance for the Reds in two seasons now.
