Players join the Championship from the Premier League year in, year out.

We often see young and promising top-flight players join the Football League in search of first-team action.

Even this season, we have seen it happen with players such as Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward who has joined Huddersfield Town and Chelsea youngster Tomas Kalas who will spend the season at Fulham.

Manchester United are a team who have a great youth system, with a lot of youngsters getting their chance in the first team last season under Louis van Gaal.

However, a Premier League substitute appearance here and there isn't enough for the players to grow and Jose Mourinho may be looking to offload a lot of youth players, so that they can gain experience.

Newcastle were relegated into the Championship last season and they will be looking to bounce right back.

Signing players from high-profile clubs such as Manchester United could massively help their chances of success.

FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe identifies THREE Manchester United players who Newcastle should look to sign.....

Joe Riley

One of Manchester United's youngsters who made their first professional appearance last season under Louis van Gaal was 19-year-old Joe Riley.

Riley was a right-sided midfielder at youth-team level, but when he made it into the Under-21 side he featured as a left-back and that is now his favoured position.

The Blackpool-born player first featured in the FA Cup and then went on to play in the Europa League in the 5-1 victory over Midtjylland.

He is a great crosser of the ball and his energy on the field is evident with him constantly patrolling the flanks - he would be an astute signing for Benitez and his men.

James Weir

The 20-year-old featured 19 times for the Under-21 side where he scored 6 and assisted a further 6, helping them to winning the league for the second time in a row.

Weir, who has been capped for England at both U16 and U18 level, has made one professional appearance for the Red Devils and that came off the bench in the Premier League against Arsenal.

He is a very versatile player, being able to play at full-back as well as in the centre and also on the left of midfield.

A loan move to the Championship could be exactly what Weir needs to improve and St. James' Park could be the place to do this.

Sean Goss

The lifelong Manchester United fan joined the club in 2012 from Exeter City but suffered a serious injury missing eight months of the season.

After impressing in the last season, Nicky Butt played him in the UEFA Youth League and he then moved on to play for Manchester United's U21's.

He then impressed Louis van Gaal and earned himself a place in the USA summer tour last season.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance but he has featured on the bench in the Premier League.

Goss could develop and mature at Newcastle United under the tutelage of Rafa Benitez.
