Ipswich Town dispensed with the services of manager Paul Hurst after just a couple of months in charge, deeming the experiment of a League One manager failed.

They've moved swiftly to bring in Paul Lambert, a veteran of eight manager roles at just 49-years-old. He's been with Colchester, Livingston, Aston Villa, Norwich, Stoke, Wycombe, Blackburn and Wolves before settling into the manager's office at Portman Road.

Unlike both his predecessors, he's been told he'll be given a £10m transfer kitty - according to the Sun yesterday - in January to try to put right what has clearly gone badly wrong for the Tractor Boys. No doubt Paul Hurst and former manager Mick McCarthy will be watching on with envious eyes having both worked on a shoestring.

To be a success though, they must spend that money wisely. £10m can buy you an awful lot of talent, but similarly it can buy you very little if pointed at the wrong players.

Here are three players FLW believe Ipswich Town should be targeting in the winter window.

One thing the Tractor Boys are truly lacking is a spark of creativity in the middle of the park, a player of culture and ability who can make things happen.

Henri Lansbury isn't getting a look in at Aston Villa and would be perfect to sit behind the front men and look for openings.

Ipswich need a physical presence up front and that is one thing Matt Smith could provide.

He's seemingly out on his ear at Loftus Road, surplus to requirements, but his robust nature and presence might shake a few defences, far more than Ipswich have been doing of late at the very least.

Ipswich need resilience in the centre of the park, a tough central midfielder who can protect the defence and dictate play facing the forwards.

Liam Bridcutt would be perfect. He's not in the frame at Forest, but would add a much-needed steel to their midfield and hopeful shore things up.

We might have picked Charlie Adam for this role, out of favour at Stoke and perfect for the job, but considering how him and Lambert left things at the end of the year, it's best to focus on Bridcutt!
