Portsmouth have been superb this season and despite failing to win in their past two games, Kenny Jackett's side boast a healthy lead at the top of League One.

However, those recent slips will have been a warning sign to the experienced manager that things can quickly change in football.

It may also convince Jackett to make a few moves in the January market and given their position, Pompey should be an attractive option for players.

The ex-Wolves boss will know how fresh faces can make a positive impact on a clubs season and ensure that everyone maintains high standards for the remainder of the campaign.

Here we look at THREE players that Jackett should look to bring to Fratton Park in the New Year...

The young Leeds defender would provide cover for the south coast side defensively and should be able to thrive in the third tier.

As well as that, his versatility is another positive aspect, with Shaughnessy capable of playing in midfield if needed.

This would be an ambitious move but the West Brom youngster is seriously struggling for game time with the Baggies and needs to be playing, so a loan may be possible.

He would bring added quality to Pompey's midfield and should be a standout player in League One if he did move.

The Northern Irish youngster was a real emerging talent under Ian Holloway but has struggled for game time under Steve McClaren this season.

Yet, he is still an exciting prospect and could be a shrewd signing for Portsmouth.

His pace, movement and work-rate are very impressive and he would be a good option across the forward line for Jackett.
