Ipswich Town have enjoyed a solid start to this season's campaign, and currently find themselves sitting in a very comfortable 11th place going into the first international break of the season.

Manager Mick McCarthy hasn't overhauled his squad this summer and has only brought in four additions in the form of Adam Webster from League 2 Portsmouth, exciting talent Grant Ward from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, Conor Grant has also joined from Everton on a season-long loan deal, and Leon Best on a free.

The past few years Ipswich have always been a team flirting with the play-off positions and if they are to go to the next level this season, it is clear they will need additions before tomorrow's 11:30pm deadline.

This article takes a look at three players they could bring in.....

Martyn Waghorn

Following the departure of star man Daryl Murphy to Newcastle United, it is clear that Ipswich will be chasing a replacement for the big man, in what remains of the transfer window and one striker who could be on the radar is Rangers star Martyn Waghorn.

Waghorn has been prolific since his move north of the border scoring 33 goals in 40 appearances for Rangers.

Waghorn has plenty of experience in the Championship having played over 100 times for Leicester City, in a 5 year spell where he managed to score 20 times.

At the age of 26, Waghorn is approaching his prime years and may be keen on a move back to England to prove himself again.

Lewis McGugan

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Lewis McGugan is another player who would be a good fit for Mick McCarthy's Ipswich side. and having been made available for transfer by The Owls he is someone they should certainly be looking at to bolster their squad before tomorrow's 11:30pm deadline.

McGugan is clearly a player of quality and class and someone who possess excellent technical ability, he has good vision and a wide range of passing, he has a wicker long shot in his arsenal and is often regarded as a set-piece specialist.

McGugan has simply found himself a victim of not fitting into Carlos Carvalhal's style of play and has therefore found himself mainly on the sidelines since his takeover as manager.

Callum Paterson

Hearts full back Callum Paterson is another player that Ipswich Town could look to bring in before the closure of this summer's transfer window.

Paterson is a versatile player who can play anywhere down the right hand side and he has also previously played as a striker, although his natural position is at right back.

The 21-year-old broke into the Hearts first team aged 17 and has since gone onto make almost 150 appearances for the club since then, racking up a total of 32 goals in the process.
