Everton, one of the biggest clubs in Britain, have been a mainstay in England’s top flight since 1954.

The Toffees, currently managed by former Wigan and Swansea boss Roberto Martinez, boast an array of exceptional talent on the field, such as Gerard Deulofeu, a product of the world-famous La Masia youth academy, and playmaker Ross Barkley, one of England’s most promising young talents.

The quality of their side is prevalent throughout their whole squad, even in the players that are currently not in the first-team picture at Goodison Park, or have recently fallen out of favour.

There are some squad members that would rightfully feel that their ability should warrant a first-team place, and could potentially revamp their Toffees career with a spell away on loan to the Championship to sharpen their skills.

Steven Pienaar

The experienced wide man has played at some of the biggest clubs in the world, spending time at Ajax and Borussia Dortmund in the past.

He also has vast Premier League experience; sandwiching a two-year stint at Tottenham between two separate spells at the Toffees.

While the former South Africa international has been a great servant to the Merseyside outfit in his time there - notching up over 150 total appearances in the famous blue shirt - he has had less of an influence this campaign, with only five games under his belt.

His recent career has also been plagued by injury which has seen him spend a large amount of time on the sidelines.

However, his talent still remains undisputed, and a short spell at a top Championship side like Hull City or Derby County could be just what he needs to revitalise his playing career as it approaches its final years.

Mason Holgate

A summer arrival from League One side Barnsley, Holgate has turned a lot of heads in recent times with his impressive performances in the heart of defence.

Although he only turned out for the Tykes 20 times last season, his performances were deemed enough to warrant a £2million transfer fee and Barnsley’s Young Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old seems to have the world at his feet, and has already been dubbed the ‘next John Stones’ by various media outlets following his move.

A temporary stint out on loan would only accelerate his development, and he could bring plenty to the table if he were to join a side like Bristol City or Blackburn Rovers, as they look to consolidate their place in mid-table at the business end of the season.

Kieran Dowell

The Ormskirk-born attacking midfielder is a product of Everton’s youth system, and at just 18 years of age, has a long career ahead of him.

Despite his tender years, he has already shown some real quality while playing for the under-21 side, having bagged 3 goals in 6 games so far this season.

He is also an established England youth international, having made a number of appearances at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level.

Dowell, like Mason Holgate, could greatly benefit from a period away from Goodison Park, and would fit in well at a League One club like Barnsley or Swindon Town as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience.
