Derby were disappointing in the Championship last season, despite their play-off place, due to the significant invest made by owner Mel Morris in the transfer windows.

This summer has been a little different for the Rams as new manager Nigel Pearson appears to be taking his time to build a squad capable of better their achievements of the last campaign.

The club are yet to add a player to their squad while Pearson has set about quickly moving on players that don't fit into his plans.

While he will be keen to add to his squad, the former Leicester boss knows the importance of waiting to add the right player, rather than just adding for the sake of it.

Once potential transfer approach would be looking to those on the fringes of the big clubs, such as Manchester United.

New United boss Jose Mourinho has begun assessing his squad and decisions are expected to be made shortly on who he plans to move on, either temporary or permanently.

With that in mind, here are THREE players that Derby County should cherry-pick from Manchester United...

Donald Love

Donald Loved

The 21-year-old right-back is very highly-rated at Old Trafford and he has already featured three times for the club, including a 53 minute cameo in the Premier League against Sunderland back in February.

Love was in impressive form for United's under-21 side last season, playing 36 times as they retained their league title and this led to a nomination for under-21 Player of the Year for the Red Devils.

He also enjoyed a seven game spell on loan with Wigan last season and his quality on the ball, as well as ability to play in defence and midfield, would make him a shrewd signing at the iPro Stadium.

James Weir

James Weir

Like Love, James Weir was nominated for United's under-21 Player of the Year, otherwise known as the Denzil Haroun award, but narrowly missed out to Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who is now on tour with the first team.

The 21-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield and while he has not yet had any first team experience, Nigel Pearson could do a lot worse than move for the Preston-born midfielder.

Something which Weir possesses that a lot of younger stars don't have is consistency; his manager Warren Joyce has often commented on this and he seems ready to make the step up to regular first team football.

Demetri Mitchell

At just 19-years-old, Demetri Mitchell is far from the finished article but what he lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in raw talent.

He may be on the lookout for a loan after a disappointing, injury-plagued 2015/16 campaign with the under-21s, and his ability to change a game is something that Derby could certainly benefit from.

Capable of performing on either wing or upfront, Mitchell possesses phenomenal pace and his ability to take on defenders one-on-one is superb for his age, and this is certainly something that Derby could benefit from next season.
