Crystal Palace are in somewhat of a rut in terms of results at the minute, they have lost their last five league games, and are a team who are really struggling for goals.

They remain solid enough at the back and do have quality throughout the squad, with the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor during the transfer window, showing that they can attract top level players to Selhurst Park.

However with signing top talent like Adebayor, comes the risk of pushing players further down the pecking order and away from the first eleven.

Palace have built up a decent squad over the last three seasons, however, some players who were once first team players now sit on the fringes of the squad, while a few of the younger players are finding chances hard to come by.

In this article I take a look at THREE Crystal Palace players who might be best served taking a loan spell in the Championship......

Kwesi Appiah

Appiah joined Palace in 2012 and has yet to have any impact whatsoever on the first team, making only six appearances overall.

The Ghanian international striker has had loan spells at seven different clubs since joining, and at only 25 years of age will need another move so his career doesn't stall completely.

Appiah could do with finding a home where simply everything fits, and he gets a run of games to try and find the goal trail.

A move to the Championship, probably to the lower league teams in there, could serve him well as he looks to try and build some momentum in his career.

Dwight Gayle

Gayle has only recently signed a new four-year contract to commit his future to the Eagles, but this does not mean he is guaranteed a place in the team.

Only 10 appearances this season demonstrate that, and with Pardew bringing in Adebayor to try and bolster his attack, chances are likely to still be limited for the former Peterborough striker.

Gayle has ability, and would be a roaring success no doubt in the Championship.

He would definitely be worth making a move for during the loan window, as his pace and finishing could make a massive difference to a host of clubs.

Adrian Mariappa

The former Watford centre half has struggled for game time this season, falling behind Scott Dann, Damien Delaney and Brede Hangeland in the pecking order.

The pacey defender has ability in abundance, and was even linked with a move back to Watford at one point.

However, there are many clubs down in the Championship who would be willing to take him and add some quality and Premier League experience to their ranks.

Marriappa has played in the Championship before, and knows what it is all about.

He would be a great signing for the final few months of the season for anyone in the second tier.
