With Paul Trollope now at the helm of Cardiff City, many Bluebirds fans considered the upcoming season their best chance to steady themselves after a couple of years of hit-and-miss.

Owner Vincent Tan seems to always have off-the-field controversies and it has somewhat seeped through into the Cardiff dressing room in recent years, with this season starting slowly too.

A first-round defeat in the EFL Cup to Bristol Rovers has been followed up with two losses, one draw and just one win, against rock-bottom Blackburn Rovers.

The Bluebirds find themselves in 17th place in the Championship table going into the international break and there is little doubt improvements will need to be made if they are to keep pace going forward.

And one area some Cardiff supporters want to see some last-minute action is in the transfer window, despite there being just one day left to make additions.

So with that in mind, who should the Welsh side be targeting going forward? Who, realistically, could turn their season around?

FootballLeagueWorld writer Hayden Atkins takes us through THREE names who Cardiff should look to bring in before the 11:30pm deadline on Wednesday evening….

Geoff Cameron

Stoke City utility man Geoff Cameron is currently entering his fifth season in England with the Potters, but he's dropped of the radar a little in recent months.

Whilst he's an excellent option to have at the club due to his versatility, the 31-year-old will undoubtedly want constant football and could do a lot worse than join Cardiff City this summer.

The Bluebirds have a had a bit of a slow start and signing a player that can play anywhere across the defence and out-wide would be an excellent option for Paul Trollope.

Tosin Adarabioyo

Young Englishman Tosin Adarabioyo enjoyed his first taste of first-team action with City during their pre-season tour this summer, and impressed when given the chance by new manager Pep Guardiola.

But with so much competition at City these days, Adarabioyo may be best to go out on-loan to get some competitive first-team experience for the season ahead.

Cardiff will be looking for defensive muscle after a couple of poor results and Adarabioyo has the potential to really sure up the Cardiff back-four.

Jose Enrique

Another defensive-minded signing,

Jose Enrique is currently a free agent after being released early from his Liverpool contract.

The Bluebirds lost Fabio Da Silva to Premier League new-boys Middlesbrough earlier this summer and the Spaniard might make an excellent replacement for the Brazilian.

He'll need to get match fit but he's got bags of Premier League experience, and with no-one seemingly ready to take a gamble on him, Cardiff could bag themselves a real gem here.
