Alas, the transfer window has passed us by and, with the loan window abolished, clubs will have to wait until next January to make any more transfers.

Cardiff made eight signings across the window, mainly of foreign origin. One of their biggest coups of the summer was perhaps sealing a deal for Lex Immers, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Deadline day was also largely successful for the Bluebirds, who managed to bring in Rickie Lambert on a permanent deal from West Bromwich Albion.

Cardiff's lack of goal threat has been a distinct worry in the opening weeks of the season, despite the signings of Kenneth Zahore and Frédéric Gounongbe up front.

But the club addressed this issue by bringing in Lambert, who netted 27 times in his only year in the Championship.

So, who else should Cardiff have brought in on deadline day?

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Charlie Firth identifies THREE players that should have been signed by Cardiff on deadline day...

Stephane Sessegnon

Sessegnon

The 32-year-old was released by West Brom at the end of last season but would make a fine addition to any Championship team, which would incline you to believe that he may have been holding out for a Premier League club.

A lot of Cardiff fans will tell you that the one thing they are strongly lacking in midfield is a bit of spark, pace and creativity - Sessegnon would provide these qualities in abundance.

The former Sunderland man would make an excellent signing for the Welsh side and, with clubs able to sign players without clubs, he still could be a possibility.

Peter Odemwingie

The Nigerian is a versatile player and enjoyed a fairly successful spell at Bristol City on loan towards the end of last season.

He can play across the front line but, considering Cardiff play with wing-backs, he'd probably play as a centre forward.

He would definitely add something different to the Cardiff attack, and if they were to decide their current formation isn't working at some point this year, he could be deployed out wide.

As with Sessegnon, Odemwingie is still a free agent and could still be picked up even though the window is closed.

Karl Darlow

Karl Darlow

Cardiff made the rather bizarre decision to sell first team goalkeeper David Marshall and back up keeper Simon Moore towards the end of the transfer window, leaving them extremely short between the sticks.

Darlow probably has Rob Elliot in front of him in the pecking order at Newcastle, with Metz Sels the number one at St. James' Park at the present time.

Whether he was brought in on loan from Newcastle or permanently, he would have made a fine addition to the Cardiff City side who are in desperate need of a goalkeeper.

Cardiff fans... what do you make of these players? Do you want to sign these players? Would they have been good? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
