It has been a torrid start to the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season for Cardiff City, with the club positioned just one place above bottom after a return of just eight points from their first 11 games.

The club has made a big move to address its current plight by sacking Paul Trollope as head coach and replacing him with the outspoken yet experienced former Sheffield United and QPR boss Neil Warnock.

There is now a lot for Warnock to consider both on and off the pitch, but a priority will be deciding who he picks to start the Severnside Derby against Bristol City at the Cardiff City Stadium next week.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Steve Day picks THREE players that he thinks Warnock should not only avoid picking in his match-day squad, but who he feels are fortunate to still even be contracted to the club...

Adam Le Fondre

adam-le-fondre

How do you solve a problem like Adam Le Fondre?

That is the big question that has been asked by Bluebirds fans ever since the former Reading striker showed that he was unable to hit a barn door in the blue colours of Cardiff, despite possessing a prolific goal-scoring record in the Football League.

Le Fondre is seen in a Godlike status amongst fans of his previous clubs, such as Reading, Rotherham United, and Rochdale.

He scored 129 league goals for those clubs alone, but he has just repeatedly failed to deliver the goals for the Bluebirds. Three goals in 21 starts in the league makes for grim reading.

He is currently spending the 2016/17 season on loan at Championship rivals Wigan Athletic, but is once again showing an inability to hit the back of the net for the Latics, scoring just once in four appearances.

He is now playing third fiddle to Will Grigg ('s on fire!) and Cr(aaaa)aig Davies, so it is probably best if Cardiff just look to sell him as soon as possible, maybe back to Reading, Rotherham, or Rochdale where they will love him.

Craig Noone

The mysterious downslide in form of club clown Craig Noone is one that troubles even the most intellectual football purist.

Noone built a glowing reputation with previous clubs Plymouth Argyle and Brighton before being signed by Cardiff back in 2012.

He played a key role in helping the Bluebirds to win promotion the following season, and was a big hit with the Cardiff fans for his creativity and pace out wide as he consistently looked to get to the by-line.

An attribute in a winger that Cardiff fans had not seen since the genius that was Julian Gray, and even he was just a one month loan signing with the club back in 2003.

Noone has repeatedly failed to recapture the form that saw him thrust into the limelight during Cardiff's solitary Premier League season, where he was praised for tearing the Manchester City defence apart on more than the odd occasion.

It seems his hunger and desire to succeed disappeared along with City's membership in the top-flight, and it is amazing that a player who has been off-form for so long remains with the club.

Bruno Ecuele Manga

mangamangamanga

This last entry is probably a controversial one.

A few other names such as Tom Adeyemi, Aron Gunnarsson, Peter Whittingham, or Kenneth Zohore (yes, already!) might be preferred, but this player has overstayed his welcome with the club for more than just playing reasons.

There is no doubt that in terms of technical ability, Manga is arguably the best defender at the club.

The questionable £5 million fee that came with his signing has largely been repaid in the eyes of a number of fans, and he is still deemed to be worth a large percentage of that fee now.

Unfortunately, for one reason or another, despite being linked with move after move, a transfer away from South Wales has never materialised for old Bruno.

If the rumours of the Bluebirds flying close to the FFP wind are to be believed, then any funds recouped from his sale would be greatly appreciated.

It is also frustrating that Manga's head has rarely seemed on his football and the goals do seem to fly in when he plays.

For a player reputedly worth so much on the market, it seems unbelievable that the club has yet to sell the Gabon international and re-invest the funds to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Cardiff fans... do you agree? Or do you think other players should have been sold already? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
