At the moment, Blackburn have a little bit of a crisis in terms of their centre-back position.

Grant Hanley made his big money move to Newcastle during the last week and Shane Duffy is also being chased by several clubs.

Despite Gordon Greer being on trial with the club, Blackburn may still have to look at signing another centre-back on loan before the first game of the season.

Blackburn may also look to bring in another striker with just 2 out and out forwards being signed on at the club.

The opening match is getting closer and closer with Norwich City coming to Ewood Park in less than two weeks time.

FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe identifies THREE players who Blackburn Rovers should loan in before the first game of the season...

Jack Stephens

One of replacement centre-backs could be Jack Stephens.

The 22-year-old has spent the last few of years of his career out on loan from Premier League Southampton.

The young man spent the first half of last season with promotion-winning Middlesbrough, but due to just two Championship appearances he then relocated to Coventry City.

Despite his lack of playing time with Boro, the defender certainly lacks no ability. It was simply because he had players like Daniel Ayala to compete with.

The former Swindon loanee may be a very good fit in the Rovers team, and he could receive some valuable minutes in the Championship.

Adam Le Fondre

Cardiff City are looking to offload the striker this summer, after he has struggled to make an impression during his time in South Wales.

However, they have struggled to sell the forward due to the size of his wages so the Bluebirds may have to settle for a loan move away, at least until January.

The 29-year-old has a pretty good goalscoring record in the top two leagues with 53 goals in 170 games.

Le Fondre would certainly offer good competition to new signings Danny Graham and Anthony Stokes for a place up top.

Reece Burke

West Ham United youngster Reece Burke spent a very successful loan spell at Bradford City last season, winning the club's Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old has featured in the U18, U19 and U20 teams for the England national side, also showing his ability and potential.

The centre-back has also featured in 5 Premier League games, adding top-flight experience to his game. However, he may not be ready to play week in, week out in the top flight so the youngster could go out on loan to the Championship.
