For Birmingham City fans, they've become used to extremely quiet deadline days, with very few big-money incomings.

With the club finally set to be sold in October, there is hope on the horizon that the entire Carson Yeung chapter can be forgotten and the team can move forward.

Supporters are hoping ambitious, stable investors will come in and settle down the finances and finally provide manager Gary Rowett with the funds needed to mount a respectable promotion campaign.

This deadline day they signed two loan players, Lukas Jutkiewicz from Premier League side Burnley and left-back Rhoys Wiggins from Bournemouth.

Both have signed on deals until January but apart from that, there was very little action apart from outcast striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen leaving on loan.

So with that in mind, are there any players Blues could and probably should have signed on deadline day?

FootballLeagueWorld author Hayden Atkins takes us through THREE players Gary Rowett could have done with signing yesterday...

Chuba Akpom

Perhaps the most ambitious choice on this list, but Blues fans would have been extremely happy if Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom came in on loan. It was widely thought the former Hull City loanee would have gone out for a spell away from the Emirates but nothing materialised.

But he's the sort of player that Blues fans would have enjoyed seeing. Rowett loves playing 4-2-3-1 with Clayton Donaldson leading the line but for some, it's become a little repetitive.

Akpom is a quick, skillful player who would have given the side another dimension.

Rico Henry

Henry

Birmingham-born left-back Rico Henry had been at Walsall until yesterday but he made a deadline day move to Brentford to link back up with former manager Dean Smith.

The Bees paid around £1.5million for the 19-year-old with add-ons expected to come later, but some Blues supporters feel that they could have afforded this fee for a young player who such potential.

Whilst Rhoys Wiggins came in from Bournemouth to fill the void at left-back, Henry would have been a fantastic option too.

Adam Le Fondre

Another player that made a move on deadline day, there are plenty of Blues fans that feel a player like Adam Le Fondre would have been a realistic and useful addition to the side - until Wigan Athletic won the race.

He's got as much experience as anyone at Championship level and knows where the net is too. He's scored over 175 career goals and Wigan have got an extremely solid striker that might be able to assist in any potential promotion push.

Blues brought in Lukas Jutkiewicz but out of the two, Le Fondre might have been preferred.
