Birmingham City are one of the Championship sides that have really started well this campaign.

Managed by Gary Rowett, the Blues look light-years away from the relegation-threatened side led by old flame Lee Clark a couple of years ago.

Former Burton boss Rowett seems to have instilled a real sense of confidence in his players and going forward, they could be real contenders for the play-offs.

A solid 1-1 away draw at Queens Park Rangers was another good result last weekend and Blues supporters will hope the good form can continue right up till Christmas and even beyond.

But despite the good start, some supporters feel there are a couple of players that might not be needed in this current crop anymore. Certain individuals that may have run their cause at St Andrews.

But who are they?

With that in mind, here's THREE players Birmingham fans may need to say bye-bye to in January...

David Cotterill

David Cotterill

Former Doncaster winger David Cotterill had been a key player for Blues for the past couple of years but these days, he's not getting much first-team action.

Most of his appearances this season have come from the bench and with Jacques Maghoma dominating on the right-hand side, it's tough to see where the Welsh international now fits into the equation.

Has done well having made over 75 appearances in three years but right now, Blues need better players if they are to challenge for the play-offs.

Viv Solomon-Otabor (Loan)

Sometimes you get the feeling with young players that it isn't quite going to happen for them and for Viv Solomon-Otabor, that's the theory that's been around for a while now.

He's been with the club for over six years now, including his time in the academy but has only made 26 appearances. Now 20-years-old, the pacy winger needs first-team football if he's to forge a real club career and it doesn't look like he's going to get it at St Andrews.

No malice in this choice, just a player that needs to leave on loan to better his career.

Paul Caddis

I'm a real fan of Paul Caddis and everything he's done in a Birmingham City shirt has been good.

But his continued exclusion from the first-team due to "fitness reasons" doesn't really seem too transparent now we're so far into the season.

This is a situation where there is more than meets the eye and Caddis deserves better than have to bench-warm for a club he's been a real part of for the past few years.

So that being said, he's a player that should be allowed to leave in January, if this issue hasn't yet been sorted.
