3 players Barnsley should look to loan in before their first league match

Barnsley will take to the field in only a matter of weeks to kick off their campaign in the Championship, something which seemed nigh on impossible just 9 months ago.

The Reds were struggling in League One before the turn of the year, as Paul Heckingbottom took over from the departing Lee Johnson as the new year ushered in.

What happened next was remarkable, as Heckingbottom and his squad pulled themselves from the bottom with 10 wins from 12, and also put together a run to the JPT final, which they duly won.

They secured a playoff spot with a final day hammering of Wigan, and went on to defeat both Walsall and then Millwall at Wembley to secure a place back in the second tier.

The Tykes have a good little squad full of spirit, but the management team are under no illusions more players will need to be added to sustain the momentum for next season.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at THREE players Barnsley should look to bring in on loan before their opening game…
