Whilst there are structures in place to prevent transfers between clubs during the season, free agents can still be picked up at any time, providing they were free agents when the window closed.

With the number of players without clubs on the increase, it means there's always a bargain to be had, if teams look hard enough.

One side who might need to enter this market are Leeds United, struggling with numbers thanks to injuries and now suspensions as well.

Marcelo Bielsa trimmed the squad back in the summer, loaning out fringe players and getting rid of much of the dross. It left them looking thin on the ground, but streamlined.

Now, that approach may have backfired with Bielsa possibly needing a new face or two. FLW look at three free agents they could move for in the immediate future.

Ansarifard has been linked with Forest, proving he has quality to spare, so why not sign for Leeds?

Patrick Bamford's injury highlighted a hole in their recruitment, a possible weak link with just Roofe and Roberts available. When Roofe got injured too, it left them struggling.

The Iranian would seem a wise choice.

Bielsa doesn't go for experience, but there is value in a move for Johnson.

He could provide cover, something they need right now in the wake of Luke Ayling's dismissal.

Johnson knows the level, has played in England all his career and despite being 34, has always looked in good shape.

The German would be a viable option to Kalvin Phillips in the defensive midfield role, with Phillips running hot and cold. Sometimes he's outstanding, other games he's hauled off before half an hour has passed.

Kirchhoff would at least offer an alternative and some experience to boot.
