With the Gunners currently sitting in fourth place harbouring aspirations of claiming the Premier League title, they will be looking to give the future crop of title-chasers a chance to go out on loan to gain some valuable first-team football.
Back in the summer, many Arsenal youngsters swapped the top flight for England’s second division as Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom linked up, with Steve Bruce’s Hull City and Wellington Silva joined Bolton Wanderers.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also made the drop to join Wolves on loan along with 18-year-old winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who joined Ipswich for the rest of the season and Spaniard Jon Toral, who has scored six times in 24 appearances for Birmingham City.
Loan spells to the Championship have proved dividends for some Arsenal players. Francis Coquelin only spent five games on loan at Charlton before being recalled by Arsene Wenger due to an injury to Aaron Ramsey.
Within just three weeks of being recalled, Coquelin started in a Premier League game against West Ham and went on to enjoy a successful season with the Gunners – culminating in him playing the full 90 minutes of their FA Cup triumph over Aston Villa.
