After a disappointing season in which they were relegated from the Premier League, Norwich City have spent the summer planning to achieve promotion for a third time in five seasons.

Four players have joined the club since the end of last season, with Tottenham playmaker Alex Pritchard being the marquee signing, while eight have departed.

Fans will be hoping for further reinforcements before the transfer window closes as Alex Neil looks to build a squad capable of achieving promotion at the first time of asking.

Given the spending power that Norwich have this summer, due to the parachute payments that come from being relegated from the Premier League, the Canaries will be able to attract the attention of those players who are currently playing in the top-flight.

Having experience in the top division could be crucial for Norwich in both their push for promotion, and then keeping them in the Premier League should they achieve their goals for this season.

With that in mind, here are THREE Premier League players that need to escape the top-flight and join Norwich...

Luke Garbutt

The Everton left-back has long been regarded as one of the most highly-rated young defenders for a while now, but he has fallen off the radar a little in the last few seasons.

With doubts over the future of current left-backs Martin Olsson and Robbie Brady, Alex Neil will need to plan to bring in a replacement should he be forced to sell the sought after duo.

Garbutt has experience in the Championship and may need to escape the Premier League in order to fully realise his potential.

Adam Forshaw

Despite being a £2m buy for Middlesbrough in January 2015, Adam Forshaw has never been able to establish himself at the Riverside due to the impressive partnership of Adam Clayton and Grant Leadbitter.

His chances of establishing himself this season are even harder with the big-money buy of Marten De Roon as well as the eye-catching displays of young Beligan Julien De Sart.

Forshaw will want to test himself in the top-flight but he may need to step back down to the Championship in order to get some regular first team football.

Matej Vydra

The Czech Republic international had a disappointing campaign on loan at Reading last season, scoring just three goals in 31 league games, but there is no doubting his pedigree at this level.

In 83 Championship games for Watford, the 24-year-old found the back of the net on 36 occasions and if he can rediscover that lethal form, then he could be key in firing Norwich to promotion.

At still a relatively young age as well as already having considerable pedigree in the second tier, a move to the Championship and Carrow Road would be a smart one for the Watford striker.
