Stoke City are on the lookout for a new manager after they sacked Gary Rowett following their poor season.

The Potters confirmed the news on their website this morning, with several members of Rowett's backroom team also following him out the door.

After a very productive summer, that saw several proven Championship arrivals as well as the club keeping Joe Allen and Jack Butland, Stoke started as favourites.

Yet, they find themselves in 14th position right now, eight points away from the play-off places, whilst they failed to beat League One Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Saturday.

As well as the poor results, supporters have been extremely critical of the tactics Rowett has adopted and the style of play.

Therefore, most will agree with this decision but the focus is now on who will replace the former Derby boss.

Here we look at THREE candidates that should be on the club's radar...

An obvious candidate.

The former Fulham boss took the Cottagers to the Premier League and did it in style.

He is proven at this level and would still believe he can turn the club around this season if he was appointed.

Another option that would bring a clear, attacking style of play is Luton's Nathan Jones.

He has done a remarkable job with the Hatters over the years and has established himself as one of the most exciting, forward-thinking coaches outside the top two tiers.

Jones is a long-term option and could transform the club.

Given the importance of getting back into the Premier League from a financial perspective, you can't ignore a proven winner like Allardyce.

It may not be pretty but it would be effective and ultimately, it's all about getting back into the top-flight for the Potters.
