Rotherham are the look out for their third manager of the season as their dreadful start to the campaign continues.

Despite only appointing Alan Stubbs in the summer, Millers' chairman Tony Stewart decided to part company with the former Everton player after just 14 games in charge.

He was replaced with Championship veteran Kenny Jackett who fans were hoping would come in and drag the team away from the bottom three and up the table.

However, after just 39 days and five games in charge, the former Millwall and Wolves boss has stepped down in a move that the club have described as "disappointing".

It means that Rotherham are looking for their fifth permanent manager since the sudden departure of Steve Evans last September.

18 games into this season, the Millers have only won once this season - a 1-0 victory over Brentford back in August - and they've lost 13 of their games this season.

Whoever is chosen to come in and replace Jackett, they certainly have a big job on their hands as the situation in Yorkshire doesn't fill fans with much confidence.

With that in mind, here are THREE perfect replacements for Kenny Jackett at Rotherham United...

Tony Mowbray

Since Jackett's resignation, former Celtic and Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has been installed as bookie's favourite to takeover at the New York Stadium, and the Millers could do a lot worse than the 53-year-old.

As well as having plenty of experience in England's top two divisions, Mowbray has a positive outlook on the game which tends to get the fans and players on the same side.

His last two jobs, Middlesbrough and Coventry, have involved him going to struggling clubs and turning them around and while he left the Sky Blues earlier this season, his reputation has been enhanced after his time at the Ricoh Arena.

Steve Cotterill

Another manager is currently without a club is Steve Cotterill and as he is someone who has a lot of experience in the Football League, he could be the perfect option for Tony Stewart and Rotherham.

He was sacked, perhaps harshly, by Bristol City earlier in 2016 despite getting them promoted just six months earlier and he is yet to find a new club since leaving Ashton Gate.

The 52-year-old knows how to get the best out of his players and he would give the Rotherham players the lift needed to save their faltering season.

Dougie Freedman

The Scot has experience of managing struggling Championship clubs and with finances at Rotherham tight, Freedman would be a perfect choice as he knows how to work with a tight budget.

The former Crystal Palace boss left Nottingham Forest last season and all has been relatively quiet around the 42-year-old since then, but he could be a good long-term option for the Millers.

He built a strong squad on a shoestring budget at Palace that went on to win promotion to the Premier League and given the chairman's top flight aspirations, Freedman could be a perfect long-term option at the New York Stadium.
