Reading have this morning parted company with their manager Paul Clement, bringing to an end an unhappy association which has seen them stagnated at the foot of the Championship table.
The Royals have had a rotten start to this season and whilst performances have improved marginally over the course of the last couple of weeks, the appointment of CEO Nigel Howe has accelerated the change of manager.
The sacking isn’t entirely surprising, although the timing might be questioned given that performances had improved, but a change now gives a new man the chance to operate in the January window and make changes before it is too late.
What of the new manager? Who can they turn to in order to pick up the pieces of a broken season and begin to rebuild and move forward?
