Reading's frontline lacks one thing in particular, a pacey striker who can really tear apart opposition defences.

A striker who could run onto Yann Kermorgant's knock ons will be high on the list of priorities of Jaap Stam, and with only Dominic Samuel and Yann Kermorgant as the main strikers at the club at the moment, alongside Latvian international Deniss Rakels, who can be deployed as either an out and out striker or as a right winger, some bolstering is needed in the striking department.

The amount of money available is currently unknown to Reading fans, so the new manager might have to delve into the loan market to bring in a new front man, but there are undoubtedly several affordable options out there.

Here are THREE pacey striker Reading could try to sign this summer.......

Nakhi Wells

The Bermudan striker has seemingly been on the Royals' radar for quite some time, but no formal bid has ever been launched.

Wells has the ability to carve apart Championship defences with blistering pace and would be a perfect fit in the Reading front line.

It's not a case of all pace but no end product for Wells though, with the Huddersfield striker packing a potent finish which has seen him consistently battle for the Top Goalscorer award.

Izzy Brown

After an inspiring season at Chelsea's feeder club Vitesse Arnhem, Brown is most likely ready for a shot at playing in England.

Whilst the Premier League might be a step too far for the youngster, a move on loan to a top end Championship side could give him priceless experience, and hope get him ready for a shot at the top flight.

He could really provide an injection of pace into Reading's front three, should they fight off the competition for him.

Chuba Akpom

Last season's loan spell out on loan with Hull City showed us that the Arsenal youngster clearly has some way to go before he is ready for the Premier League.

Mostly playing second fiddle to Uruguayan Abel Hernandez, Akpom could benefit from another season in the Championship, and a starting role in a Reading front three could be an appealing offer for Arsene Wenger to consider.
