Bramall Lane has played host to some of the best footballers in the history of the English game.

Over the years, Sheffield United have had some of the best to grace the game at a national level.

Some of which have been the traditional English tough, hard man, whereas others have been different – flair players perhaps.

Whatever they are, Sheffield United as a club have had their fare share of tough players.

Blades have always had a value that each player wears their heart on their sleeve.

That makes our job at FLW of picking the three hardest players to play for the club, very hard, but we’ve had a go.

Vinnie Jones was at United for just one season, but he will go down as one of the hardest players to grace Bramall Lane.

The ex-Leeds and Wimbledon star was crucial for the Blades in the lone season he spent there.

Before becoming a national success, Harry Maguire was a legend coming through the ranks at Sheffield United’s Shirecliffe academy.

Now nicknamed ‘slabhead’ it is no surprise to learn he is one of Blades’ hardest players of recent times.

Joe Shaw is Mr. Sheffield United – the record appearance holder. He never received an England cap although many felt he should.

In his playing career, Shaw showed traits of leadership and desire, making him a hardman of the United ranks.
