Swansea City have had a year to forget which has seen them relegated from the Premier League.

The Welsh giants had a lengthy stay in the top flight but were relegated after failing to sustain a real survival challenge.

In previous years, Swansea had relied on good footballing sides, but last season they had neither attacking prowess nor defensive solidity.

In the Championship, under Graham Potter, they have had an indifferent run of form that has seen them drop away from the play-off spots.

Moving forward into 2019, the Swans will have to do much better if they are to return to the Premier League sooner rather than later.

Here, we look at THREE obstacles that Swansea have to overcome next year.

Do you agree, or can you think of another thing that could halt their success in 2019? Let us know in the comments section below.

Some games, Swansea are excellent, but at times, they look like a team who has never played together.

If Graham Potter can fix the issue of inconsistency in 2019, they could rise again and challenge for the play-offs.

Swansea were amongst the favourites to be promoted back to the Premier League, but like Stoke, it hasn’t worked out for them.

They should approach the next transfer windows very carefully and buy talent that fits Potter’s squad.

The defence leaks goals more than any play-off chasing side should do, and Potter must work on this.

Although it isn’t catastrophic, the defence must be fixed, and this could build solid foundations for a Swansea revival.
