It's been a dismal start to the season for Notts County...

Six league games into the 2018/19 League Two campaign, the Magpies, tipped the bookies' favourites to lift the title next May, are yet to win a game thus far, suffering 5 defeats and drawing 0-0 at home on opening day.

Despite an influx of sensational signings in pre-season, the lethal strikeforce of Kristian Dennis and Kane Hemmings especially, it's clear where Notts' problems lie, and it doesn't take a genius to realise that they need to strengthen their defence having conceded a staggering 16 goals already.

New boss Harry Kewell, recently of Crawley Town and the successor of former Notts boss Kevin Nolan, has already addressed this issue with the recent signing of former Premier League centre-half Elliott Ward, following his release from Blackburn Rovers.

And the Aussie says that there is more to come in terms of signings, what with clubs still allowed to sign free agents, but is it just personnel that Kewell needs to sort out?

Here, FLW  identifies 3 concerns that Harry Kewell needs to sort over the international break...

League Two is a grueling and physically demanding division, so whilst the likes of David Vaughan are very calm on the ball and has a wide range of passing abilities, they struggle hugely when facing their own goal.

A tough-tackling midfielder alongside the likes of Vaughan could be integral for Notts as they look to become a much more physical side that are extremely hard to beat...

Notts surprisingly let go of veteran shot-stopper Adam Collin in the summer, leaving the Magpies with two youthful and fairly inexperienced goalkeepers in Branislav Pindroch and Ross Fitzsimons.

An experienced, commanding shot-stopper should definitely be on Kewell's radar if they are to shore up their defence...

Notts have two clinical goalscorers in their ranks at this level; Kane Hemmings who scored 15 times for Mansfield last term, and Kristian Dennis who scored 21 times for Chesterfield despite being relegated to the National League.

Having only scored 1 goal each thus far, if they can get the service they require off the likes of Nathan Thomas and Enzio Boldewijn, their goals will spearhead the Magpies up the League Two table.
