Nottingham Forest’s season is coming to a close as they look to make a late dash to the play-offs.

Martin O’Neill only has eight games left to navigate an unlikely finish inside the top-six and extend their season by at least two more matches.

The former Republic of Ireland boss has been in charge since the middle of January.

He has used the time since then to thoroughly examine the players he inherited and added in the winter transfer window.

O’Neill will know the players he can rely on and whom he wishes to oust in the summer.

On top of that, there will be out of favour players who will want a move away come the end of the season.

With that said, here are THREE players that look likely to be heading out the exit door at the City Ground this summer.

Liam Bridcutt

The midfielder has had a torrid time this year to follow on his lack of game time last season too.

The 29-year-old has managed just one minute of Championship football this term – and a handful of cup appearances, too.

Having been unable to get in the side under two separate managers – his time at the City Ground is certainly up, and a new challenge will need to be taken up in the summer.

Michael Dawson

Having seen O’Neill bring in centre-half reinforcements in January, Dawson has seen his time on the pitch something of a premium having played just ten times since his return to the club.

The 35-year-old boasts an enormous amount of experience and would be much sought after in the lower divisions.

He will want to prolong his career for as long as possible and could well seek a move away to do precisely that.

Hillal Soudani

Despite his injury, the attacker could be returning to fitness a little late with O’Neill potentially having already made his mind up on the player without having him fit.

The 31-year-old has one start to his name this term with five from the bench, and the current Forest boss may not have the capacity to keep him in the summer with what he has seen or who he wants to bring in.

A move away could be on the cards having been out for so long, missing the boat when O’Neill first arrived to prove his worth.
