Nottingham Forest sit 11th in the Championship table, seven points off the play-off places and 15 points clear of relegation, so a mid-table finish seems almost certain.

Dougie Freedman is restricted by a transfer embargo in this window, meaning he can only bring in loan signings and free agents, but players can still head for the exits at the City Ground.

The club's transfer embargo is due to losses of more than £6m in a season, breaching the league's Financial Fair Play rules, so selling players would help balance the books going forward.

The team has already made a couple of additions this month, bringing in Bokan Jokic from Villarreal and Aston Villa's Gary Gardner until the end of the season.

Forest have some highly-rated players, and have a history of selling to top flight clubs, with Michail Antonio, Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles all joining Premier League sides in the last couple of years.

Dorus de Vries

Despite not being in promotion contention, Forest have one of the best defensive records in the Championship, conceding just 25 goals this season - only three sides have let in fewer.

The Dutchman took over between the posts following Darlow's departure, and has conceded more than one goal in just five of his 30 appearances so far this season.

Plenty of Premier League clubs are thought to be in the market for a new goalkeeper in this transfer window, including Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal, so there could be interest in the Forest shot-stopper.

De Vries has a good record saving penalties, and has excellent reflexes to help him deal with efforts from close range.

Matt Mills

mills

Despite being a defender, Matt Mills is one of Forest's top scorers this season, netting five goals in 25 appearances for the club.

The 29-year-old's performances earned him a nomination for the Championship player of the month award in December.

Mills only signed for Forest in the summer, and is under contract until 2018, so any club looking to lure him away from the City Ground would have to pay out.

Mills has been described an old-fashioned centre-back who doesn't shy away from making a tackle, similar to Chelsea's John Terry and Ryan Shawcross of Stoke.

Henri Lansbury

lansbury

Midfielder Henri Lansbury has been linked with a move to QPR, but the former Arsenal trainee could also suit a number of Premier League clubs.

The 25-year-old has scored 24 goals in 121 league appearances since joining Forest in 2012, with two goals and two assists to his name this season.

Lansbury is likely to miss the majority of the remainder of the season after injuring his ankle earlier this month, but that could force Forest's hand if an offer comes in, getting the injured midfielder off their books.

Lansbury is an excellent free kick taker, has a decent long range shot and isn't afraid to help out defensively, so could be an investment for the future for a top flight side.
