Wolves have very much been a nearly team this season, sitting 12th in the Championship, they are bit by bit dropping off in the play-off race and are now 11 points off of sixth place.

Largely accountable is the sale of their star striker Benik Afobe to Bournemouth, without the 23-year-old's goals Wolves have not won in their last five.

Their recent run of poor form suggests that, to prevent a stagnation to their decent season; they must make some emergency loan signings to provide new dimensions to their arsenal.

Not only has the loss of Afobe hit the club hard, impressive Polish forward Michal Zyro is also out of action after scoring three times in his first two games.

Newcastle United could well be joining Wolves in the Championship next season and will be looking to offload a lot of players to reduce their wage budget, with Dave Edwards and James Henry also out of contention there are plenty of options for Kenny Jackett, and Newcastle are a club he could well look to for replacements while he has key players injured.

Here are THREE Newcastle players Wolves should sign in the emergency loan window.......

Emmanuel Riviere

Big things were expected of Emmanuel Riviere, but in his season and a half at the Toon, he has been wholly underwhelming.

He has scored only one goal in his time with the club and that was against already relegated QPR.

Aside from that, his contributions have been limited since he joined from Monaco, his return of 36 goals in 161 appearances in the past seven years shows that maybe the 25 year-old is not up to the task of top-flight football, and that his goal-scoring qualities are just a facade.

Therefore, he may be more suited to a level such as the Championship.

Having only ever played in the top-flight in both France and England, he has never had a chance to prove himself at a lower level and his poor scoring record suggests that he may well prosper in a league like the Championship, especially at a team that are in dire need of a striker.

Kevin Mbabu

Kevin Mbabu is one of the brightest prospects at Newcastle United.

Prior to playing against Chelsea earlier in the season he was nearly shoved out on loan to Gateshead, but after impressing on that day; he has caught the eye of Steve McClaren.

The Swiss youth international has made only five appearances in three years at the club and has been said to be waiting patiently for his chance to prove himself.

However, as the Magpies season deteriorates there is actually real danger of relegation for the club. Therefore McClaren will likely want to play his strongest outfit leaving Mbabu out of the picture.

Not only that but Mbabu's recent injury woes have left him short of match fitness. A loan to the Championship with Wolves would allow him to adapt to the Championship, gain his match fitness back and give him good playing time. All beneficial to his development.

Rolando Aarons

aarons

After the disaster showing in the 5-1 loss to Chelsea, Aarons' short breakthrough in the Newcastle first team could well be over.

The natural winger was deployed out of position at left-back and suffered against the strong Chelsea attack, leaving many fans angered and upset at both his performance and McClaren's decision to play an inexperienced player out of position.

Aarons needs to put the game against Chelsea behind him and if McClaren freezes him out of any more first team action, he may well have to go out on loan to re-stake his claim to be a part of the setup in Tyneside.

Wolves are looking for forwards due to their growing injury list, and Aarons would slot in nicely and would look to progress and move on.
