Reading have been one of the more disappointing sides in the Championship this season, 15th place in the table is certainly not what fans were expecting.

They are still struggling to score goals, 33 goals in 31 games, after spending a £2.5 million loan fee on Matej Vydra, who seems to be a waste of money.

They have also conceded some soft goals that cost them points, and the play-offs look to be off the table with a gap of 14 points behind sixth place Derby County, but this is the Championship, if Reading go on a run of five/six win streaks and other teams drop points then anything could happen.

Realistically Reading fans are hoping the team can finish in a more respectable mid-table position.

Emergency loans can certainly make an impact with the team, and the window will remain open until mid-March.

Rolando Aarons

The highly rated English winger had bright moments under Alan Pardew.

However, he hasn’t been given enough chances while Newcastle are fighting relegation.

After signing Andros Townsend, the chance of Aarons making an impact is slim this season - he has got the potential to be a star but he needs game time.

A loan move to Berkshire may do the trick, as Reading would welcome some more pace down the wing and Aarons has the energy and ability to contribute to the team.

Emmanuel Riviere

The Frenchman had only scored one Premier League goal since signing from Monaco in 2014, and he’s most likely heading out of Newcastle in the summer.

He hasn’t been playing much this season, a few goals in the Championship could raise interest from other clubs.

Reading are struggling to score goals in the Championship and taking a gamble with Riviere won’t hurt the team.

Ivan Toney

Another youngster that will benefit with more game time is Ivan Toney.

The striker has scored in League Two with Northampton when he was 16, and definitely has potential to play in the Premier League.

He had a brief loan spell at Barnsley early in the season and scored two goals in eight appearances.

He’s a player who has pace to beat defenders, and he would suit the Reading playing style playing next to Kermorgant, if Vydra doesn’t score enough goals.
